Practice Areas

While a significant portion of our work focuses on complex commerical disputes, matters of constitutional law and white collar defense, we take great pride in the breadth and depth of our overall practice. Ultimately, we hold to one cardinal standard: to handle those cases which regularly make law, not simply those that rack up billables.
Constitutional Law

The firm is a market leader in matters of constitutional law, having been involved in virtually all major consitutional law cases of the past two decades.

We have alo had the privilege of serving as amicus curie to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on several matters of constitutional importance.

Corporate Matters

We regularly represent some of the largest corporate houses in Pakistan on contract review and negotiation, transacation advisory and execution, and on legal opinion drafting. A particular focus of the firm in corporate matters is in the areas of energy, telecom and banking and financial instituations.

Corporate Governance

The firm routinely advises corproate boards on governance and disclosure requirements. Our clients rely on us for expertise in analyszing director independence issues; board committee practices including audit, compensation and coroporate governance; related party transactions; director duties; and crafting of memorandums and articles of association

Complex Civil Litigation & Arbitration

The firm handles some of the most significant and complex civil litigation in the country, including large contract disputes.

Our practice extends to arbitration disputes both within and outside Pakistan including at the London Court of International Arbitration, the ICSIA and the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

The firrm has a leading regulatory law practice, advising clients in the energy, textile and banking sectors on regulatory matters. We frequently represent major clients in proceedings challeging regulatory actions under taken by the government and quasi-governmental bodies.

Competition & Antitrust

The passage of the competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) in 2007 has led to a significantly higher level of scrutiny of monopolisitic and anti-trust practices. Our firm regularly appears both before the CCP in competition matters, and handles appeals from CCP decisions before the superior courts of the country.

White Collar Defense

We have unparalled white collar experience, having defended corporate officers, boards of directors as well as high public officials in civil and criminal proceedings initiated by prosecutorial and regulatory bodies such as the National Accountability Bureau, the Securities and Exchance Commission and the Competition Commission.

Tax

We pride oursleves on handling the most complex tax law matters to come before tribunals and superior courts in the country. The firm has successfully challenged numerous tax demands on both the particular facts of a case as well as by challenges to statutory provisions.

Privitizations

We have represented clients in privatizations that have involved virtually every type of state-owned enterprise. Our lawyers have drafted privatization laws, structured deals and negotiated the terms and conditions of numerous privatization transactions.
